My first time I was very impressed, not so much this time. I ordered 2 beers and was given the largest size. I did not realize till it was to late that I could have ordered (or been asked which) size I wanted. We did not like either of the beers order. Also I would have preferred the smaller sized beer so I could have tried a little bit of variety. They do offer flights I should have gotten one so I would not be stuck with a beer I didn't like.

Had a great experience at Equinox when we were there in Fort Collins. Only bummer is that they don't sell some 22 oz bombers or distribute to AZ where I live!

Best beer in town...don't get the kale chips

So good. Their beer changes every time I visit. The customer service is far superior to any brewery I visit in ft collins or denver. Such a great place, I'd highly recommend it to anyone that wants a great place to hang out.

Cool spot. Chill vibe. They have music playing (at least one the weekends while I am there) and they have a really comfy seating area towards the front back windows. The beer selection is plentiful and the staff is super nice. If you don't see the beer that you're specifically looking for, you can let them know and they will pick something out for you that's similar. They will even let you sample it. They have different size options ranging from 5oz to 20oz. If you aren't sure on a beer, like I was, I just got the 5oz and it was only $1.50!! They also have house root beer for sale, the large size is only $2 and is delicious! Indoor and outdoor seating available. BONUS: On Fridays and Saturdays there is a taco stand out front called ATACOLYPSE NOW that serves the most delicious and inexpensive tacos. While tasting beer flights you can run outside and grab some bomb tacos to bring in to your table!!

Great selection of craft beers. Sell a variety of sizes including imperial pint (20oz), pint (16oz) and half (10oz). Makes it easy to try different ones without committing to large quantity. They do not take american express and looks like you have to wait in line at bar to get beers. Not sure if they have table service or not.

Very chill atmosphere, stopped in here after I had to finish a CO brewery tour solo. Beers are good. Bartenders are chill. And they have french bread. And french bread is fucking delicious. Bartender with the glasses was extremely attractive and funny. Seek him out.

This was the first stop on my brewery tour of Ft. Collins. The staff was amazingly fun and knowledgeable, plus anything with star wars themed beer names already has a plus in my book. Definitely try the Darth Vernal (dark Hef), The Details (golden Belgian), and the Ghost Ryder( IPA/Rye combo). Those are a retry eclectic place to start for the beer enthusiast!

This place is OK. They don't have a real food menu which is ok, just know that going in. Their beer is average though. I was kind of disappointed really. Their Kolsch tastes like Heineken. Their Imperial red was not good at all. Overall not very polished or finished. Their Double IPA was good though. I would put it in the middle of the beer scene in Fort Collins. Maybe not even that high though.

Meh. Not particularly impressed. Nothing that blew mind our made me drool with beer longing. But also nothing so terrible that o wouldn't finish it. :) if you're in the area and have already hit Odell, New Belgium, and Funkwerks, swing by and give it a taste. But it doesn't make my Top 10.

Really reasonably priced sampler that showcases the brewery. The staff are friendly. You just order and take your tray somewhere. The standard tray has six beers and on the table there is a menu of with the description of the standard tray. My favorite from the standard tray is definitely the Eclipse Brown Ale. There is a rich toffee like aroma and the flavor is clear, as described on the menu. It's a very friendly and warm beer. If the weather is nice, definitely take your tray to the beer garden. Sitting outside with six little glasses and having a conversation with a friend on a warm day makes you forget all the worries. Apparently some people come here to journal as well. Do be sure to eat something before you come here since if you are a light weight, the tray can be impair you.

This place was really interesting because it felt like a cool bar with a band but then in the bar it was a bit more like a brewery. We ordered a variety of different types of beer, most of which were surprisingly good including their IPA's. I think what was cool and different about this place is that you could hang out in the front and listen to a band and feel like you're in a bar or you can go to the patio where it's quieter and where you could just hang out and enjoy your beers.

Among Fort Collin's fine selection of craft breweries, Equinox Brewing is undoubtedly one of the best. We rolled into town for a craft crawl and whenever we asked the locals for their favorites, Equinox was always on their list. I'm not sure if it was the excellent dark beer options, the crew behind the bar, the crowd this place attracts, the bar-like taproom, or the combination but it was easy to understand why Equinox is heralded. The Jonas Porter and Truffle Shuffle (a nitro chocolate porter) were my favorites. Both are rich, distinctive, delicious and balanced. I also applaud Equinox for creating superior craft beers that are not too high in alcohol.

Great atmosphere, friendly bartenders who appeared to enjoy their job, and we loved the samples we got. We got there late so we couldn't try much else. I would love to go back someday!! :)

Really good varieties of beer. My favorite is the IPA and the Pale. Wifee likes the Amber, really can't go wrong.

Not only do they have fantastic beer but this is a place for conversation. Matt is great host. No TVs for distractions. I loved the vibe it encourages to know your neighbors . The people are friendly.

Great place to hang out, relax and get some good beers. It is a true micro brewery. Small, casual, coffee shop feel to it. Great beers, great history, and located in old town off the brewery district beaten path. Great options here. Love the beer generator.

Oy. What a disappointment. I was excited to come try this since yelp gave such high marks for it- but seriously, after tasting both standard and specialty tasting trays with some colleagues, we all agreed that none of the 10 beers we tasted were any good. Maybe 3 of them were almost palatable, but certainly not pleasant enough to ask for a pint. We kept wondering how such a cool spot could offer such mediocre/terrible beer. This is the first real downer of my week+ visit to Fort Collins. I know, it had to happen sometime, right? The beer served here doesn't hold a candle to the offerings at Odell's Brewery. You're definitely better off going there. Sigh. Service is friendly enough.

Equinox offers a good, rotating set of beers with a number of funky ones, as well as cask-conditioned offerings from time to time. Nothing about this watering hole, tucked into a side street north of campus, is particularly special. Laid back vibe, somewhat like a neighborhood pub or coffee shop. Simple, to use a one-word definition. A number of their beers boast high alcohol content, which is a nice plus, but when you are up against other big dogs in town, you've gotta rely on your no-frills atmosphere and quality beers. At least in the limited amount of beer drinking that I have under my belt. I think they are doing as such.

    (4)
  • Jennifer B.

Super friendly staff and even better beer. We had the standard flight and they were all smooth and wonderful. They also brew their own root beer which of course I had to try and it was super delicious. I'll be back the next time we're in Fort Collins!

This is one of the most intimate breweries I have had the pleasure of visiting. It's in such a small space, you wonder where they make the beer. It looks like just another storefront, but if you venture out back, there's a nice outdoor biergarten. The entire brewing operation is in the little garage to the left. They have their mainstay beers, but the menu is always changing. On top of that, they always have a firkin du jour that's filled with something creative. Small batches must allow for a lot of quality control, because their beer always turns out pretty darn good. They serve many different styles, but there seems to be a quality that each one has that makes it taste distinctively Equinox. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it tastes like the grains are happy, which consequently makes me happy too.

    (4)
  • Rob M.

Constantly rotating taps and styles. They really have something for everyone. Find the employee choice board and pic something new to try. It's always worked for me. Shuffleboard!!!! Great way to make a few beers vanish.

  • Kelly R.

One of my favorite spots in Fort Collins. If you're visiting (or live here and haven't been by yet) definitely check it out. Great staff, great atmosphere, and excellent beer. They have some really good standard beers that they have all year, but they're constantly rotating in new beers too, so you can try something different basically every time you go. Grab a seat on the patio if you can!

Wowza! I love this brewery! If I was to design and start up a brewery this is the benchmark model I would be trying to replicate. I find the layout to be great, as you walk in you'll see a large bar made of dark wood along with a kind of pub atmosphere. If this isn't your deal a room off to the left has a small shuffle board table(I had a heated battle which I won...Thank you) and some tables for larger groups. If you're still looking for more they have a beautiful, large patio in the back to enjoy a nice Colorado sunny day. Perfect, what is there not to like! Along with the great atmosphere and good service, I love the beers. On my last stop I had the Super Nova Imperial Pale Ale...Delicious not overbearing, but still gave a good kick and also a Haver Scottish Ale which also was brewed to perfection with great taste and impeccably balanced. I can't say enough good things about this brewery! The location is fantastic too, if you're looking to have a good time in Old Town FTC! Go here and enjoy!

This is a good space. Smaller and a lot more intimate than some of the other bigger names in town, but I'm not as keen on their beers as some of the others. Beer: My sister and I both had their premier taster -- or whatever the equivalent was. It had to IPAs, which was my fault for not catching. Not a big IPA fan. And there was one that literally tasted like you were drinking BBQ. Their amber I liked though. Will def try others next time I'm there though. Ambiance: Like I said, I love that this place is smaller, more intimate than other places. Casual. Booths, a small bar and some high tops are around for seating. Service: No complaints. I'll be back to try some of their other beers. Overall, good place.

Good beer, nice samplers, and the brewery has a laid back coffee shop feel; perfect place to grab a beer hangout and read a good book.

By far and away the least inviting tasting room we visited in Fort Collins on our two-day kid-free bike tour. Unfriendly staff and crap beer. There are 3-4 IPAs on the menu so I asked the guy behind the bar, "Hey, you have a few IPA's around here. Can you tell me the difference?" Which was met with a very lackluster rating of "most hoppy to least hoppy" description. The Man asked about their beer engines (he's a fan of cask conditioned beer) and they treated him like he was asking for a rum and coke. Really, these guys are kind of snotty. Who seemed more interested in folding shirts and talking about some massive kale harvest than engaging with cash paying beer lovers. We felt like an imposition and very unwelcome. After two 10 oz pours we left. With all the choices in F.C.......? Nah. Enjoy your kale chips and your short-lived stint as brewers, kids.

Went here as part of a breweries tour. I'm not a big beer person but found a few I loved (sorry can't remember their names), but get a flight and you won't be sorry! Great selection of beers, something for everyone. Very cool decor and atmosphere. Would definitely go back!

Great beer in a great environment! I loved the laid-back atmosphere complete with board games and a great back patio area to relax with a microbrew. Equinox offers some unique beers including amazing stouts and Belgium-style brews. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and the place was pretty busy - we got the place seat on the patio. You can choose from two different sampler trays, though I wish you could create your own from their dozen of brews. Anyways, we went with the premium tray which included a solid amber, a saison, a double IPA, a porter and a pale ale. We both thought all the beers were really good, and they offer the recipes at the adjoining brew shop so you can try to recreate the beers at home. They do offer some simple snacks for purchase at the bar as well. Overall, it's a really fun place to spend an afternoon with tasty beers.

Fun hangout with great beers. I had the Flux Capacitator, because, why wouldn't you? There is a lovely outdoor patio, which was already full, so we didn't get to sit there. We sat inside, though, it was cozy and hip. There are several old-school board games awaiting a trip down memory lane. But we just sipped and talked and laughed instead. Good brews, good atmosphere.

  • Jenni K.

Good beer. My husband and I love IPAs and they didn't have as many of those, but the ones we had were good, nice and hoppy, a bit bitter. It looks like they let you bring in your own food? Or maybe they were too busy to notice the people beside us who brought in baguettes and cheese. The place was super busy on a Friday night and they had live music outside. We managed to find a table, but I think it was pure luck. they have some snacky foods and you can order pizza.

Large selection of beers, but wasn't overly impressed by many of them. Thought actually that their base beer sampler was better (over the specialty).

  • Keith B.

Pretty damn good beer. I popped in after the New West Fest Bohemian Nights (well, during) with my brother to sample their selection. Of course-it was fucking crowded, it was a festival day! But they served me unbelievably fast, for ordering two trays of samples! It was my first time there, and even my brother was surprised by their speed. Not all of the brews were top notch, but several are pretty damn tasty. Just order the flights. You might find yourself surprised!

Great beer, and the cheese plate hit the spot! Nice atmosphere, too. Next time I'm in Fort Collins, I'll be back!

Lot of hoppy beers. Cramped tasting room. Worth visiting if you are a completist, and you want to check out the breweries in the area, but I'm not sure it's worth visiting for more than a flight.

We ended up at Equinox after we found out that Funkwerks didn't fill growlers. And we were so glad we did! We sat at the bar and chatted with the bartenders who were really friendly and helpful. The community that seems to chill at this bar is really cool. We talked to a few people close by as the bartender let my husband sample a few beers. My guy really liked the Mr. Delicious Oatmeal Stout (and that is what we filled our growler with) but had a few others he liked as well. The interior of this place is really cozy and everyone seems to be having a really good time. We took our time chatting with locals and relaxing. I know that when we visit family in Denver we will surely return to this pleasant brewery.

Easily my favorite brewery in town. Small setup, almost has a coffee shop feel with plenty of seating, board games, plenty of reading, and a nice little bar, too. Its wood aesthetic also might bring a pub or two to mind. It's gotten pretty popular over the years, and sometimes seating can be difficult to find inside or on its little urban patio. I do like the beer garden quite a lot, though, and try to spend the time out there when the weather is nice. Quite a nice place to hang out with friends, have a pint, fill a growler, try a taster, or just relax. Prices are a little steep ($9 for a growler, $7 for a taster tray), but the beer is more than worth it. The brews are a great selection, and the astronomical theme is a great bonus. I used to visit quite frequently. I might have to start up again. P.S. I'd recommend biking there. They filled their small parking lot with a few bike racks a while back. Otherwise, you'll have to find a place to park in nearby streets or the nearby public lot.

Beer Stop 13 --- Lucky number 13. Equinox is a great up and coming brewery. It is much more homey then other breweries in the area and the servers know their stuff. The three best beers we tried were the Barleywine, Porter, and Belgium Strong Dark Ale. Others beers were good as well - but these stood out the best. Great place. Can't wait to see what the brewery puts out in the future!

Wow. Here for GABF. This place is great. The brewer, Jared, gave us a tour and was so helpful and informative. I would definitely recommend Equinox. I hope you guys expand distribution to Portland, OR!!

I'm a talker, and that being the case, I love talking about whatever is suitable for the situation. In this case it is beer. And one thing I can tell you about these people, is that they love beer. And as they should, not only enjoy their own, but all others as well in a town known to be heavily rich in breweries. Their knowledge on the beers they have on tap shows their dedication and love to this beverage. In comparison to the larger places in town, I enjoyed the non-corporate environment and the ability to chat with others as if it were your local neighborhood pub. Give this place a shot, there's a beer for everyone and the folks are great.

Two things keep me coming back to Equinox: 1) I live in Ft. Collins and 2) I'm an avid homebrewer. The beauty is that right next door is a wonderful homebrew supply store that I almost always go to (virtually every week), so that gives me the opportunity to see what's new on the tap room chalk board. Truth be told, I go to Equinox even if I'm in Old Town and looking for something to do. So, I go there a lot. I always enjoy their service and the energy of the crew here. I haven't had one bad experience and their prices are reasonable. As for the beer, this is the only reason they don't get a 5 star rating. They ARE good; however, not great. They brew many different styles very well and I never complain. There have been a few examples that were spectacular and deserve a GABF medal, but is more of an exception and not the rule. The ambiance and taproom setting is exactly what a brewery should be (IMHO). There's beautiful artwork on the walls, engaging beer related books and things to read, and no major distractions between you, the beer and your company to enjoy it all with. As a HUGE plus (when it's not too cold), they have a cool beer garden that is the perfect place to enjoy a tasty brew with friends. They may not serve food, but honestly - you're Old Town - there are countless excellent foodie-grade places to get your chow on. Equinox should be one of your top 3 breweries to visit in Ft. Collins. Cheers!

We kind of just stumbled upon this brewery and I'm really glad that we checked it out. The beer was fantastic and original and our bartender (Matt I think) was extremely helpful and let us sample a nice variety of their beers. The bar had a great atmosphere and was full of fun local art. They don't bottle any of their beer so you have to go check it out for yourself.

I was pretty stoked to be able to hit up Equinox after hearing such great things. I couldn't decide on which sampler I wanted to get (they have two to choose from), so a friend of mine and myself decided to get both of them and then share. This was half way into our brew tour and I can't really say which one was my favorite. I can say that they do make some pretty stellar brews and have a chill space. All of us were able to pull two tables together and sit out back on the patio, which had live music going on BTW. All-in-all I would say that equinox made the ranks as one of my new favorites in FoCo. They are right downtown with ample parking and have plenty of variety to choose from.

  • Jennifer S.

We stumbled upon this joint after a day of brewery tours and tastings. Maybe it was hour 7 of beer tasting talking, but their IPA on tap was very flavorful. I would recommend this place to any friends who visit Ft. Collins.

On my most recent visit to FoCo, I was on a quest to visit a handful of local breweries. So, on my last day, Equinox was my last stop on my way out of town. I was told by my new FoCo friends that I should arrive as early as possible because the popularity of Equinox has recently exploded. I popped in shortly after the brewery opened on Friday afternoon and the place was nearly dead. Good? Bad? I'm not sure, but it gave me a moment to check the place out. Equinox is just off the main drag of College and Mountain on the little side street of Remington. I must admit, even though it is close to College Ave, it sure was a treat to step on to another street. There must be other interesting parts of town, right? Anyway, I immediately loved the decor and welcoming feel of the place. Hardwood tables and chairs and immaculately decorated walls. Plenty of seating in the bar as well as in the adjoining room. Since I was pretty much the only patron in the taproom, I settled myself at the bar and ordered a regular flight. This consisted of five or six beers: golden ale, Irish red, porter, and two IPAs. I really enjoyed all of their brews except for the IPAs, I'm just not an IPA drinker. But from the sounds of it, these IPAs are delicious. So why not 4 stars? The service. I was pretty much the only person in the taproom, well, the only person for a good 15 minutes, and it was like pulling teeth to get the bartender to tell me about Equinox or describe their brews. I love to talk about beer and I want to know about its intricacies, not just whether or not it tastes good. Perhaps it was an off day for this bartender, but it left a bad taste in my mouth that I didn't feel totally welcomed. I'd like to check out Equinox again because they do indeed have some tasty brews. I just hope to be received better next time as a fellow beer lover.

I'm going to make this short and sweet. Equinox has a few things going for them. 1. The location is great, it's central and easy to get to 2. The tap room is cool and I liked hanging out there 3. The beer is solid and worth trying 4. They have a good variety of beer to pick from and one is bound to find something they like Overall Equinox is worth checking out if you're in the Fort Collins area. It has a small town craft beer feel to it and the beer is solid!

  • Gerold S.

We stepped in for some beers and had a great time at Equinox Brewing. The IPA tasted what I was expecting. Also the other brews like the Stout were pretty damn good. If you are in town do not miss Equinox Brewing.

today's firkin was awesome, a mr delicious oatmeal stout with Swiss chocolate and almond. my favorite micro brewery in Fort Collins

  • Pam C.

3-1/2 stars would be better, but I'll give them the benefit. Nice little brewery - too little for the amount of people that have discovered it. Very crowded, but we managed to get a table and enjoy ourselves. Great, generous samplers! No food, but you can bring your own. We brought appetizers and enjoyed a little nosh with our samplers.

  • Megan S.

Back in the day O'Dell and Fort Collins Brewery had the incredible, small town, cozy vibe that Equinox delivers so flawlessly. Expansion is not a bad thing but there is great advantage to being one of the newer kids in town. The vibe here is laid back and comfortable, the staff is friendly, and you can usually find a spot to sit. USUALLY. And the beer? Delicious. The Double IPA or the Space Ghost is my pick but if you grab a sampler you won't go wrong. P.S They have some of Old Town's best bike parking in their "parking lot". Lots of space if you're traveling with a large crew.

  • Alison Q.

The guys here really know their beer and are happy to share their knowledge with you. Really genuine, good dudes. A great introduction to the local brew culture. This was the ideal first stop on our Magic Bus brew tour.

  • Holly G.

I've been up to visit Equinox twice in the past year and have enjoyed my visit both times. I love the location - right in the heart of Old Town but slightly off the beaten path, right next to the awesome homebrew shop! Equinox itself is cozy and I want to give them props for their very nice logo (only a graphic designer would write a review on a nice logo, right?) Then why the 3 stars instead of 4? The beer. It is really well crafted beer, definitely, but I have tried at least 9 different tastes combined on both visits and none really wowed me as much as I had hoped. I will give this place a third visit next time I am in Fort Collins again and hopefully I'll be blown away by this beer eventually.

Hooray Equinox Brewing, I have heard very good things about this place from a few different people and we went here this weekend to see what the buzz was about. Buzz is a good word, like coffee buzz. I don't know if this used to be a coffee house, but it sure does feel just like a coffee hour inside. They have a fun little patio, they call the beer garden, and on the evening we went, there they had live music playing. There were board games a plenty to keep you occupied as well, though it was a bit to crowded to enjoy them on the day we went. As for the beer, the ones we had were delicious. Their barley wine was the best beer i had at any brewery that day.

    (4)
  • David B.

I was very disappointed with Equinox. It's a cool tap room and a great location, but I didn't really like any of the beers I tried (and I tried a lot of them). There just didn't seem to be anything unique about them, and the tended to be pretty hoppy. I get that a lot of people like hoppy beers these days, but they need a wider range of styles.

  • Russ H.

Great, chill local brewery. Staff has always been helpful and they have live music on their back patio in the Summer and Fall. This is a pretty small place so it can fill up quick. Games and shuffle board in the back. They don't serve food here but I don't think they mind if you bring your own. As a bonus for you home-brewers there's plenty of stuff to pick up. Beers here tend to be a little stronger and more stout than some of the other places in town but definitely awesome.

    (4)
  • Dan F.

Unique and off the beaten path.

    (5)
  • Byron C.

Great place for microbrew. They usually have 10-12 beers on tap and regularly rotate in new stuff. They don't sell any of their beer in stores so this is a great place to try something new. Their Vernal Hefeweizen is especially good. They have a great patio for the summer time but seating is often scarce. They don't have much in the way of food, just small snacks. It is located right across the street from Old Town Square so there are plenty of options for food close by. There are board games(connect 4 is clutch), but many are missing pieces.

  • Katie W.

Still our favorite brewery in town - and I think we've tried them all. Every beer is solid - even if it's a style you don't prefer. Lots of variety in styles of beer and great taster trays. They serve their beers in imperial glasses, so be careful, 2 of these will have you buzzing. Great live music on the weekends. Very family friendly atmosphere. Awesome staff. Just the best of the best on all fronts.

Only been here once while visiting family and friends. Equinox has brewed up a good selection of beers, everything I tasted was very good. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable, not sure if she was the owner. I am looking forward to tasting some more Equinox beers.

Great brewery, great beer, great people. I loved this brewery. If I wasn't just visiting Fort Collins, I would be a regular here. They have a great beer philosophy and the people who work there really take pride in what they do and love to show you around. I was amazed at how resourceful they are with the little space they have. A must visit in Fort Collins!

Good beers, good atmosphere, good service. Nothing particularly outstanding, but everything was solid and felt like it was on the precipice of great. Beers were okay, favorite was the Scottish. It could be really great, just missing a little smoke. Good crowd for a week day, could definitely get a little tight if crowded. We came and went, staff was efficient but didn't really seem to care if we were there. Prices were what we expected. Wouldn't go out of my way to stop again, would have to be in the neighborhood.

Excellent evolving selection and always top quality. A little pricey and often quite packed but worth a stop for anyone on a brewery tour.

I love the space here. Awesome coffee shop-esque vibe inside with plenty of games and couches to lounge on. Outside is a patio with many strange signs about dogs and lobsters? IDK. Anyway, as for the beers, I was less impressed. There was only one stand out - the Midsummer Pale Ale. It was a very solid and easy drinking beer. The others had some interesting things going on, but I was glad I only had 4 ounce samples of each. They just didn't get me excited. But, so close to downtown and with such a good vibe, I still think Equinox is a great stop on the Ft. Collins circuit.

I have to be generous and give Equinox Brewing a five star rating. Even though their beers are not quite as 'experimental' in flavor as I am usually after. In this case the beer is just good. It tastes good, period. And that is all I have to say! Lol! Well not quite. I have had their wheat beer here and loved it! It just went down so smooth you could really get loaded by hanging out here too long. I had a darker beer on my last visit... a stout and again it went down soooo smooth. Equinox doesn't serve much in the way of eating. They have cheese and crackers and such so you can nibble on something while you drink. I have friends who are even bigger beer snobs than I am and they really like Equinox. They did mention though sometimes that for them at least it can be a hit or miss thing going on the beer quality. It is something I have never noticed but if you are very, very picky with how your beer tastes then you could very well feel that way. Not me though, nope, not me.

One of the great things about Fort Collins is all the beer close by, and having Equinox open up just makes it even better. Equinox was opened by the owners of Hops and Berries. What better people to open up a small brewery than those that run a home brew store. The pub area is small and more like a lounge than a bar. There are a few areas to sit by the bar where music is playing, but if you want a little quieter spot then the room next to that has plenty of seating. The also have an back patio to enjoy the weather and some live music. The beer is outstanding for a start up brewery. From their delicious ales, really Happy IPAs to deep and rich porters, there's definitely a brew to please everyone. We all ordered the flight and nursed them for some time over conversation. The people behind the bar a friendly and helpful. They have a stack of old board games to choose from too. They also have occasional beer dinners. Equinox will definitely be a stop next time I am in town.

Beer Stop Number 18: They deliver beer on a trike. Could this place get any cooler? We actually scheduled it for Friday night but missed it because of traffic. At our previous stop, New Belgium the beertenders were so enthusiastic about this place that we had to make it in. I am glad we did. The beer is delicious with flavors and strong bitter ipa known as the Space Ghost. Another of my favorites was the Jonas Porter on their specialty tray. A place for homebrew lovers as there is a homebrew shop next door, Hops and Berries.

One of Fort Collins newest breweries has also quickly become one of its best. With a super-convenient location, excellent quality brews, a beer garden, and friendly staff and atmosphere, what's not to like? A few hints as you take on this place -- 1) Pick a good day, so you can take advantage of the beer garden they built out. 2) go for the 6 sampler tray -- best deal. 3) Thursdays and Fridays, there is a firkin keg on tap - make sure your samplers includes the firkin. and 4) if you go in the afternoon and evening, there is often a food cart with some great smelling creole food. Grab some, take it inside (equinox encourages it), and now you have something to go with the beer. I can't believe it took me so long to discover this place - WONDERFUL!

Equinox Brewing = another reason to love Fort Collins! Equinox has the vibe of a local coffee shop with the allure of a taproom rolled up in one. It boasts a cozy bar area and tall community-style table in the front room, with smaller tables in the side room. There's no food, so eat before you visit, but you can order up a bag of chips if you're feeling snacky. Need some fresh air? There's a little beer garden in the back that looks perfect for listening to music and enjoying a brew when the weather is nice. If you've never been, definitely order the sampler so you can try their range of flavors and tastes. And see if you can get a sample of the seasonal Midwinter Warmer, too, while it's still around. Yum. Surprisingly the darkest beer in the sampler was my favorite, I think the Jonas Porter? Chocolately and delish. Mushroom March starts this Thursday! Basically they'll feature a firkin every Thursday - the same base beer conditioned with different varieties of mushrooms each week. I may have to drive up March 24th for the bolete. ;) And...if you're feeling inspired to brew your own beer, be sure to stop by the homebrew shop Hops & Berries next door. (I remember when this spot was a hair salon, back in the day. Oy.) I'm a fan!

I loved it here. The place is just the right size. The beer selections were wide and varied and not a single one was sub-par. Yes, I tried both samplers. The lights to very darks were all well-balanced. They have a turbo-charged Hefeweizen that you need to be careful with though. A good-sized and quiet outdoor patio rounds off an excellent, low-key summertime experience.

Awesome. As expected. You're partnered and next door to a homebrew store. You'd damn well better make some good beer. Everything that Equinox brews was thought out and tastes great. And a nice selection for a startup company. Grab a flight, a game and head to the back patio. Make an afternoon of it. I look forward to coming back here and am excited to watch them grow.

Equinox ambiance has definitely improved - I should have updated this review sooner. Only complaint is the live music nights, it is way too damn loud in such a small space - plus it takes up valuable drinking space. Beer is fabulous, and always something interesting to try.

Deep down, all of us have a burning desire to form connections and be understood. This is why we gravitate to those with similar interests - because those friends understand. I love meeting up with my friends who are local bloggers, because they get it. They understand the traffic jargon, the lamenting about servers crashing, copyright drama, and the food nerdy discussions about flavor profiles. They get it more than others I talk to - including and especially The Husband. Everyone needs those groups of friends, no matter what your interests are. Equinox Brewing is that type of place and those types of people for the beer community. They provide a place to talk anything and everything about beer, not to mention, serving up some incredible award-winning beers. Equinox is known for their down-to-earth style of brewing, flavor, and atmosphere. Their standard selection features eleven beers served in conventional American style from a tap. Two of their beers are served from a traditional British style beer engine, cask conditioned. Every Thursday, they will tap a firkin, a 10 gallon vessel of beer that has been naturally carbonated. They don't bottle their beer (except for one winter seasonal), and they don't have a large distribution. They'll send it over if its withing walking distance, because they feel that beer is best fresh (which is true). Because they focus on a niche market of darker beer, they have a very unique profile of deep, earthy richness. You aren't going to find many fizzy yellow beers here. Out of the tasting flight, I really enjoyed the Eclipse Brown Ale and the Jonas Porter. We sat and drank and talked and collaborated. It was awesome, and so was the beer. It evoked a richness of life that every person needs - understanding. It's fantastic that Fort Collins has a place where people can really get into their beer on a deeper level - learn about it and relish it. And if you're not that beer geeky, it's still a place that fosters fabulous conversation with friends.

There are so many breweries and brewpubs to choose from locally, but on this day we wanted to stay close to old town Fort Collins in the event our shenanigans didn't end there. This store front brewpub, tucked away downtown, is a nice little get away from the busy streets of old town. Atmosphere: We walked in and knew this relaxed bar, with an afternoon-drinking vibe, was just what we were looking for. The "tasting room" has sort of a coffee shop feel to it with wooden high top tables, low tables, leather lounge chairs and a cozy fireplace to enjoy your beer around. The pendant lighting is dim and the walls are painted warmly. There is an area with Equinox merchandise on display for purchase, as well as growler bottles for filling with your favorite beer. The crowd was mixed with young and old and a little bit of a touristy feel. A few folks were transfixed on their sampler trays while others chatted and played the supplied board games. Brew: We tried both the Specialty Tray and the Standard Tray. See detailed beer reviews on our website.

Fort Collins has yet another 'must-go' brewery. I had heard good thing about Equinox, and I had tried one of their beers before, but last night was my first visit...and I loved it! The staff seems nice, the seating was cozy (we still found a nice table to have a good conversation even when it looked like the place was packed from the front window), and the beer is really good. We sampled the honey wheat, the brown ale, the amber, and the chocolate stout, and I would recommend any one of them. Other things I like about Equinox: The hours. They're open until 9 Tues-Sat, and until 7 on Sunday. (Meaning you don't have to take off work early to make it before closing) The location. Right across the street from the Mountain/Remington parking garage and walking distance to anything in Old Town. The Price/Sizes. You can pay $4-6 for a full pint, or you can opt for samplers or smaller sizes. (I think you can get a half pint, or a 5 oz. serving, in case you want to try a few types without emptying your wallet, or getting tanked. Loved it. I will return. P.S. According to their website you can get Equinox Brews at; Choice City Butcher, Bondi Beach Bar, Snooze, Wild Boar Coffee Café, Elliot's Martini Bar, Village Pizza (Estes Park), and Patrick's Pub (Greeley).

This brewery has done a great job of whipping out a delicious and diverse spread of beers during its one year of existence. I love the vibe of the place too-everyone is friendly and appreciates the beer. I am a sucker for their branding, which is silly when you think about it but it demonstrates that these people have business sense. I wish I could get their beer in Denver...

We stopped in last night and tried the sampler. I liked about half of the beers on the tray (Cumulus Wit, Orbit ESB, and the Stout). However, I didn't feel like the others measured up to the in-town competition. For example, the IPA wasn't very hoppy and the flavor was somewhat shallow - more like an amber. The Pale Ale, for lack of a nicer way to say it, was skunky. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I found the decor original and cozy. The table we sat at was actually a piece of a log, with the Equinox logo, some grains, and hops embedded into the top - very cool. I wish they served food (some pretzels or something) and stayed open later. Still, a welcome addition to Old Town.

Awesome beer. Small little place on Remington across from the parking garage. They are run by the people who have the home brew store next door. If you make your own and love the beer, they will give you the recipe and sell you the ingredients. Pretty cool. Erin at New Belgium clued me in and said I should check them out. Great advice. What I did not get here was any enthusiasm from the staff. They are nice enough and I did not hang out at the bar, but if I had just opened a brewery and had just won a bronze medal in an international competition, I would be a little more pumped up to be an evangelist for my brand. Did not check out the patio as this was our 4th brewery of the day, this gives me another reason to head back.

They know how to make a good IPA. When we came they had four different variants of IPA on tap and they all were great. The stout and imperial heff were killer too. Nice mellow "coffee house" style on the interior and a sweet beer garden to boot. I loved this place.

You can never have enough breweries. This place is operated by the great people of Hops & Berries, who supply Fort Collins with the ingredients to brew our home made beer. With that being said, you now know that these guys must know what they are doing if they have been trusted with one of the biggest home brewing cities' ingredients for all these years. They have six rotating draft beers to choose from, as well as two more beers on a Firkin tap and a Beer Engine tap. If you appreciate beer, and all the time and effort that goes into making it, you will appreciate this place. Their beer was excellent, and they had a good selection to choose from, ranging from a golden ale that was surprisingly full bodied, to a porter that tasted like chocolate cake. They definitely take pride in their balances of flavor. I gave it four stars because the ambiance was a little droll (although they hadn't even been open a week when I went there, so maybe there's more going on now). I also couldn't give it five stars because the info cards that came with my sampler tray didn't have IBU or ABV on it, which is always nice to know.

Me loves Equinox. The vibe is great, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and when my friend and I just kept chatting, they didn't try to kick us out. Bonus: You can bring your own food in. Nothing quite beats a Brown Ale and Chipotle.

  • Cody M.

The beer is good, some of it is great, and some of it is just okay. I would recommend the Sunshine Golden Ale, O'Rion Irish Red, and the Antipodal Dark IPA. I docked Equinox 2 stars based upon a couple of simple points. The first has to do with customer service, as they really need to work on it. The couple of times I have been to Equinox, the bartenders have been less than friendly (e.g. do not throw my I.D. and my debit card at me after I nicely handed them to you; either hand them back to me, or slide them across the counter). Also, how about trying to smile? I know that working in a brewery is probably not as romantic as I make it out to be in my head, but you still work in a place that, in some respect, is pretty cool. The staff's bad attitudes do not exactly make me want to stick around after one drink, and to be honest, at this point, I will probably just skip this place altogether and hit New Belgium or Odells. The other point that caused me to dock this place has to do with the decor. Simply put, the decor makes Equinox feel less like a hip brewery, and more like a frilly tea shop. Perhaps putting better art up would be a good start.

Small place, and I agree with them needing to spice up the plain walls, but the color of paint is great. I like that they are open a little later than some of the other breweries. It is a young brewery, but I enjoyed all the beers I tried on the sampler. I especially enjoyed the Vernal Hefe. They offer hand drawn option from what they call the "beer engine". Sampler trays and full-size glasses available for purchase Looking forward to seeing all the future offerings

I really want to like Equinox brewing...I really do...but can't get anything more than a meh to come out. On occasion i've had tremendous versions of a few of their beers (brown comes to mind immeadiately)...but too often their beers are not consistent, even within a week of sampling them...their ales that are supposed to be hoppy...well...aren't. They are still relatively new...so perhaps that will come in time...but upon repeated tries of their beers...meh.

Fort Collins is clearly the mecca of all things beer- with breweries or restaurants serving great Colorado micros every few feet. Equinox has joined the ranks...and I have to say it is a standout! Love the vibe, really relaxed and well put together little place with cool decor and great art. FABULOUS beers! Really Good! Some of the best in FOCO (and I am including the big names in that claim). Get a sample platter and enjoy! Cute logo too, had to buy yet another beer shirt because I couldn't live without it.

  • Jimmy B.

Equinox is everything a beer snob could want from a homebrew shop and tasting facility. Tons of different brews on tap, small sampler glasses to help find your favorite brew, and growlers (64oz jugs) to buy and take home. They'll even fill up other breweries' growlers with their brews, so if you have a few from New Belgium or O'Dell around, get one filled here and experience the unique flavors that this microbrewery offers. It's especially cool to try out their seasonal brews. They really help setthe mood for a great night on the town or an afternoon of relaxation and good conversation on the patio.

Enjoyed the Hefe-weizen the most, but their entire range was quite good. Friendly service too, and a little more upscale appearance than some of the nearby pubs and such. Nice sampler.

Looks like a strip mall store front, but once inside you get a surprise. A variety of beers that pay tribute to Fort Collins beer history. However, they take a little more risk,, making this place - fun......

Winter update--Their Oatmeal Stout is SO good! It lives up to its name--Mr. Delicious. This place just keeps delivering, so we keep coming :) Definitely one of our favorites in Fort Collins, and there are lots of things to love in this town!

Came here on a Saturday evening to try some more local brew while in town, having already tasted New Belgium an Odell on previous visits. Equinox is a much smaller concern, but the Midsummer Pale Ale was on par with any of the beers I've tried elsewhere in Fort Collins. I also tried a sample of the S'porter, a porter with s'mores ingredients. While I admittedly don't have the best palate in the world, I couldn't make out the graham cracker, marshmallow, or chocolate. It tasted just like any other porter to me. With the being said, the bar staff of bearded fellows were friendly and offered tasting advice. The crowd was eclectic, as seems standard for a Fort Collins brewery - everyone feels welcome. If you've already done the bigger breweries, Equinox is worth checking out when you're in the Old Town area.

My husband and I shared a tasting sampler. The beer was excellent. The vibe was chill. It's more laid back than the more college-y places in Fort Collins. The only downside is that it closes at 9 p.m. But it's a brewery more than a bar.

I have tried 3 different beers here now and they were all AMAZING! The atmosphere is pretty nice as well and they have a really nice patio out back. Last time we were there we got to see some good music also.

This is what Odell and the other two large brewers in town should be envious of concerning their tap rooms. Their beers are good, but not at the same level yet as their FoCo counterparts. The communal and kind environment did much to dispel this concern for me. I had the 460 Pale Ale and was very satisfied, the IDA, though, left something to be desired. Will be visiting again the next time in town.

I am seldom in Fort Collins but when I am, I make sure to hit up Equinox Brewing. Their beer is both delicious and the recipes are bold and innovative. The beer is made very skillfully. The atmosphere is exactly what a tasting room should be. You can easily while away hours hanging out, drinking amazing beer and just playing board games. The interior is very nicely furnished and adds to the charm of the tasting room and the board games, they really make the place so very enjoyable.

One of the best in the Fort, a town known as the "Napa Valley of Beer". Eclipse Brown Ale is my favorite of any brewery in the US. Others are good ones too. Enjoy with a local cheese selection from MouCo. The beer garden is a great time too and close to easy parking in Old Town.

Unique and off the beaten path.

Cool spot.

  • Scott J.

  • Stacey F.

Constantly rotating taps and styles. They really have something for everyone. Find the employee choice board and pic something new to try. It's always worked for me. Shuffleboard!!!! Great way to make a few beers vanish.

My husband and I shared a tasting sampler. The beer was excellent. The vibe was chill. It's more laid back than the more college-y places in Fort Collins. The only downside is that it closes at 9 p.m. But it's a brewery more than a bar.

Great place to hang out and play some cards, especially if the weather is nice. They have an awesome selection of beer. A couple of my favorites are the Sunrise Golden Ale, Orbit ESB, and the Super Nova Imperial Pale Ale.

I've driven past this place a million times and never noticed it. Last week my friends wanted to meet there for after work drinks and wow! I'm not disappointed. The patio was really nice and the beer is good.
